Turbo.264 HD Video Converter App Reviews

Want money back.

Wanted something to drag and drop files onto that would encode and insert into iTunes for ATV2 viewing. Got something I could drag and drop files onto that would encode and insert files into iTunes with no audio, which defeats the purpose of the software in my opinion. Wish I would have listened to the earlier reviews about this exact issue. Wasted $50. Bottom line is that I believe a product shoud do what it says it can. This does not and based on the support site for Elgato, it might not ever. Very dissappointed. In case you are wondering, I have some experience encoding files and creating pipelines to do so. I spent the $50 to have someone else do it because my time is worth something as well. Sadly now I have wasted my time and money. Will roll my own...

video conversion

Somebody spent some serious time on the product making it idiot proof. I dragged a folder into the conversion window and it found each video. It quickly prompted the type of conversion and to what format. I clicked HD 1080p and clicked start. 32 minutes later all of my AVCHD files where converted and opened inside of iTunes in the movie section. I could have saved them anywhere, however, I learned that after I did my first conversion. Just started running second batch of 48 videos and its singing along. By the way, I can view them one at a time when they are done inside Itunes. Easiest video conversion on the Internet by a long shot. My thoughts are that any Company that spends time programming a software solution that actually will not let you screw up and one that also gets the job done quickly and easily has my vote. My vote - get it if you need to convert video.

can you add support for mkv lirycs

it is a great software but the mkv is the only dis advantage. even converts MTS files great. just if you can add that feature.

50/50

I ran one movie through this and it rendered fine, so I was content that I had made a worthwhile investment. My second try (another avi file) resulted in "sputtered" audio. I tried it twice. Same result. I then ran the same file through 4Media MP4 Converter and it went through fine. Sorry, until I see an update with a fix...my usage with this application will be limited. Ill go through the support chanells to provide the proper feedback so they can hopefully fix it.

50% Missing with Hardware not available

The program itself is great, however there is a USB hardware piece that really makes it functional. If you buy the software, and then decide you want the hardware piece, they wont sell it to you separately. So you have to spend $100 bucks to rebuy the software with the hardware piece that accelerates the processing and allows you to work with other programs that have turbo.264 integreated into them (such as DVDRemaster). You end up spending 50 more bucks on it. Just buy it straight from the website with the hardware piece. It costs more, but youll be happy youre not buying two copies of the program.

Wheres the turbo??? No Faster than EyeTV

I got this to convert EyeTV recordings faster...hence the Turbo.....well there is nothing turbo about this app.....1:30 program encoded to 1080p HD in about 4 HOURS!!! Guess you need to buy the USB dongle to get the turbo part....which comes with the application....so basically if I want the Turbo it will now cost me $50 more than it should have....very disapointed!! Would like a refund!

Elgato EyeTV 3.5.1 is better

I got this to speed up my conversion rate and boy am I dissapointed. Sure it is a little faster, but there is no frame forward or back in the edit stage. The videos I have converted come out pixelated and not smooth at all. Get youself "Handbreak" for conversion and let EyeTv do the edit.

Great Customer Service!

I ran into a small glitch recently with the app, but it was resolved very quickly and Im back to work. Thanks so much for the quick replies and fix. This is an amazing app for converting videos of just about any kind. I use it to convert my MTS files to QT for editing in FCP.

Pricey but works well

I use this along side Handbrake. This can merge 2 or more files together into one .m4v file which is what I needed. I have had issues in a few cases where I had to convert each of the separate files into m4v with this app first then re-encode them together to combine them. It works pretty fast and works with many codecs. WMV files need to have flip4mac installed first prior to opening this app to convert those to m4v. (when I say prior I mean before you encode them, not before you launch this app for the first time). This also has support for AppleScript which is nice. I put in a script to batch add files within a folder and it worked great.

Not what i paid for!

Ok, So the idea of the app is pretty good. Now with that said whenever i try to import a folder that i have saved from my camera, some of the .MTS files cannot be imported. It says not supported. Funny...it transfers 3 .MTS files out of 4 and then it decides to say .MTS is not compatible. I would like a resolution for this or honestly be refunded.

Crashes!

I dont know why, but it started crashing since the last update! I cannot convert videos anymore. Please fix it.

Works, But slow

Ive been using Turbo.264 HD Video Converter to convert MKV video files to 1080p Quicktime files. Turbo works fine on 95% of my files but some it just wont do. It is very easy to use, but it is also slow, taking 4-5 hours to convert a 2 hour 1080p MKV file on a 2011 MacMini with 8GB of Ram and a solid state drive. My recommendation is to purchase Elgatos hardware converter by the same name, the Turbo.264 HD which has a usb hardware decoder as well as the software sold here for $99 direct from elgato. Files convert 3X faster and it comes with the same excellent software.

Crashing

The App wont stop crashing! We need an update asap!

Crap

Its a piece of crap as far as Im concerned. First few videos I tried to convert with it, it has a bunch of blue balls moving horizontally to indicate its doing something but nothing happens. I was robbed.
